You want to create multiple Facebook accounts with one phone number if you don’t want your accounts scattered around with different mobile numbers. That can be difficult to manage, or even to recover the account when you lose access to a particular number. It could also be that your FB account was unfairly locked but you need to open another and still reach your contacts.
Usually, signing into a Facebook account using the linked phone number will always log you into your existing account already registered with that number. Moreover, Facebook uses that phone number to identify you. There is an issue that Facebook hasn’t sorted out yet, which makes it possible for you to open different accounts with the same phone number. Facebook’s policy states that a user should own only one account therefore, only one number is legally allowed on FB. In fact, the Facebook Help Center says:
It’s against the Facebook Community Standards to maintain more than one personal account.
Sometimes, a need to own more than one Facebook account might arise and you don’t want to consider Facebook policy. You just want to proceed with opening the account for whatever reason, which could be to stay anonymous or just have multiple Facebook accounts different from your primary account.
How to create new Facebook account with same phone number
In this part, you’ll get to know the steps to open a new Facebook account with the same number you used in another account:
Below are the steps to create multiple Facebook accounts with one phone number:
1. Deactivate the previous account
The first thing you need to do to create multiple Facebook accounts with one phone number is to deactivate your previous Facebook account to own two Facebook accounts.
Follow the steps below to deactivate your account:
- Launch your Facebook app and then go to the menu.
- Look for and tap Settings & Privacy.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap on Personal and account information.
- Select Account ownership and control.
- Tap Deactivation and deletion.
- Tap Deactivate Account.
- Tap Continue to account deactivation and follow the instructions to confirm account deactivation.
Before deactivating your previous account, make sure you use your email as the recovery option for your account.
Your Facebook account will no longer be visible to your friends after deactivating it. Have it in mind that the deactivated account can be re-activated at any time. Nonetheless, the account needs to be deactivated for 14-30 days for you to use one phone number.
You can now create a new Facebook account using the same phone number without any issues. If your active phone number is detected by Facebook, that means your phone number is still cached on Facebook’s database, therefore it requires a waiting period of 14-30 days (as earlier advised while the first account is deactivated) to be cleared so you’d be able to proceed with the number.
Also, the delay might be bypassed by changing some of your personal details in the new account although it is not a guarantee.
You can use the same information on the old account, excluding the date of birth, which can be changed later after the account creation.
Furthermore, your old Facebook account can be deactivated with the use of the recovery email added to it after successfully opening the new one. With these steps, you should be able to use your second Facebook account with the same phone number.
2. Open another email account
A new Facebook account can also be created with the same number by opening a new email account. This email account to be used for Facebook should be a newly created one therefore, it should be different from the one used in your old Facebook account.
To create a new Facebook account using a new email address (such as Gmail), do the following:
- Visit Facebook.com and register.
- Fill in your real name. When you are asked to use your mobile phone number or your email, enter your email instead. Make use of the new email address you recently created or the one you’ve never used to open a Facebook account yet.
- Select your gender.
- Fill in your real date of birth.
- Set a password.
- Then tap on Sign up.
- Confirm your email address and you’re logged into Facebook.
After that, you will have to add your phone number to the account, which your old Facebook account won’t be affected in any way.
But whenever you attempt to log into your new account with your phone number, Facebook will redirect you to your old account. Therefore, logging into your new account requires the email address you used to create it. This email address can be changed at any time to help you create multiple Facebook accounts with one phone number.
3. Keep the email as your recovery method
If per adventure, the email address is removed, your access to the new account will be denied due to the phone number conflict that will occur for both accounts. This means that you will have to allow the email address to remain as your recovery method in the new Facebook account.
You can do the following if you want to add the same number to your new Facebook account:
- Tap the menu bar on the top right hand of Facebook.
- Tap on Settings.
- Tap Personal Information under the Account Settings section.
- Tap Contact Info.
- Fill in the phone number that is used in your old Facebook account and then click on Add Number.
- Tap on Continue.
After this is done, Facebook will send a confirmation code to the old phone number, which you will use to verify the account. Enter the code in the provided box and click Confirm. You’ve successfully added the same phone number to your new Facebook account.
Also, have in mind that this method can work even if your old account registered with your old phone number is disabled or blocked by Facebook. Therefore, the phone number can still be used again.
Conclusion
My Facebook account was hacked at some point and I tried this but Facebook won’t let me log in again. After opening a new Facebook account, I waited for about 30 days before adding the old phone number to the new account and it worked. Unfortunately, my old account was permanently disabled by Facebook since the hacker may have gone against Facebook policy. But I’m still using the new account right now.
Moreover, I still even use the account to post Facebook garage sales for the money. That’s all on how to create multiple Facebook accounts with one phone number — it works.
